CHRISTINE Mini-Ping - May 2nd, 2010
You don't need to have a large group of fans to make a good ping. In fact some of the best pings I've been to have been small, you can have some great discussions. If you said 'Coronation Street fan Christine from Winnipeg', many fans would know who you were talking about. Christine has a Corrie Fun Page site that she updates every other Sunday, plus she posts on Corrie.net and other sites. I have a special connection to Christine and pings. When I first started going on the Corrie sites I'd read about Christine's yearly pings in Winnipeg. These were not just small pings, but more of an event. I would think 'I wish I could be there.' When I first decided to have a ping, I emailed Christine and she answered all of my questions I had and gave me advice. She was a huge help to me. Christine had the ultimate ping in May 2010. Even though Christine lives in Winnipeg, she arranged a special 50th anniversary ping in Manchester. Fans from around the world attended. They had a Corrie tour of locations, got to walk on the street, plus were entertained by Andy Whyment- yes R Kirk from Corrie. I had planned to go, but after winning the CBC contest I was in the UK two months before the 50th anniversary ping. One of the things I was most disappointed about was not being able to meet Christine. However, on the way to Manchester Christine landed in Toronto and had a few hours to spare. Four of us met Christine at the airport and headed to a nearby restaurant for a mini-ping.
Sharon, Sheila, Deborah, Al, Phil & Christine.
I'm so pleased I finally got to meet Christine. Even though it was the first time I met her, when we met in person I felt I had known her for ages. Such a lovely lady.
