Earlier this year it was announced that there would be tours of the old Coronation Street studios for 6 months only. We have been lucky and been on the famous cobbles in 1995, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012. We had no intentions of going again.........until we started seeing photos and hearing stories from friends who had already done the new tour. We weren't really bothered with inside the studios, but we wanted to roam on the actual street by ourselves taking our time taking photos. We booked our tour for May 12th at 15:50.
Eight days before flying over to Manchester we found out that friends of ours were on the same flight as us. What a co-incidence that was. We've known Jack & Joyce for over 20 years and spent a lot of time chatting about Coronation Street. When we landed in Manchester we wished them a good holiday. Their English relatives then told them they had booked them the Corrie tour. They'd be going on May 12th at 15:50!!! We couldn't believe it, another huge co-incidence. There are tours every 10 minutes from 10am to 6pm (8pm on weekends) and I hadn't told anyone when we were going. The odds of us being on the same tour were very slim. I'm glad we were though. The best part of the tour for me was seeing an emotional Joyce as she stepped onto the cobbles after being a lifetime fan. A moment I will never forget.
I'm not going to say much about the actual tour as we've been spoiled with vip tours the last few years. There were a few negatives, but the positives outnumbered them. If you are a Coronation Street fan, it is well worth the price to go. Seeing inside the studios is great, but stepping onto the cobbles is magical and never gets old. Don't wait too long to book though. The tours end on Oct. 4th and tickets are selling fast. For more information or to book your tour click here.
